Aluminum-alloy exterior, zipper-less design, whisper-quiet wheels, and an anti-microbial interior lining. Two TSA-approved combination locks replace the zipper for double the security. Charge your devices on the go. The battery is removable and airline-compliant. Aluminum luggage will acquire dents over time. If you gate check, we suggest getting The Polycarbonate Carry-On. It's more forgiving on impact.

    Durable and Smart looking

I have used this suitcase once, on recent trip to France and Germany. It actually arrived just a few hours before my departure, and I decided to carry it with me. It actually went out empty, and on my way back I put some clothes in it to test capacity and the difference in performance empty vs. packed. Initial impressions: Durable, smart looking, love the lack of a zipper, glides smoothly - and I rolled it on a pavement in Paris, airport floors with gaps in CDG, and smoother floors with metal separators between the floor tiles in FRA. It rolled well overall, as long it was relatively straight. Rolling a bit at an angle to avoid a person or turning, if it was over a gap, it needed a bit of a lift. Overall the wheels are smooth, and yes quite noiseless (hard to be noiseless, sometimes given the shape of the rolling surface). Let us now talk about the locking mechanism: I like it - reminds me of the old vintage suitcases we used to have when I was child. I love the way the combination is set: Frankly the most convenient and the easiest of any suitcases I have ever used. The combination lock dials could be a bit more friendly however - hard to turn a single one at a time - usually the one below also ends up turning - they are close together. I ended up using my index finger to turn rather than my thumb (as I would normally). Also, I felt that rotating the numbers to the right was smoother than rotating to the left, not sure why? Okay, what about the space? Quite good, actually. I have the Audi Aluminum Edition - so it is the smaller carry on with the 37L capacity. It has more space than is initially sensed on opening the suitcase. I would liked to have had a compression guard for the main lower compartment - I don't mind the belt, but a compression guard, I feel, keeps things neater when they arrive at the other end of the journey. But this is not a big miss. I am an expert packer as I travel frequently, and I found the space to be quite good. I carry running gear as well, so I would say that when traveling to a spring, summer or autumn destination, I could probably pack 2-3 days worth of clothing; if a winter destination, then at most two days. What about the charging battery. Well, I think it is a convenience. This is the first time I have had a suitcase with one - I will be frank, I did not use it on this occasion. I carry a couple of QI charging batteries with me, so ended up using those (force of habit), as I forgot to carry the appropriate cord for my phone (they were packed in the check in suitcase). But that also made me think, that maybe Arlo-Skye should include a nice multi tipped cord with the suitcase. Frankly, I would have paid a bit more for the convenience. I did charge the battery, and I will use it the next time. What about the build? Vey well done. It feels solid, no issues putting it into the overhead compartments of my Lufthansa flights. Interestingly, when I first saw the bag, I was not sure - it is sleek, and I was concerned (hype vs. reality) about build and handling. No hype here - it is solidly built, and no scratches noted on the return home (four flights in total on this journey). The handles allow for a very straightforward way to place it into the overhead and remove it from the same. The handles on the Audi edition are a bit different, leather, and nicely accented with a red trim. Funnily enough the suitcase matches my Audi, which is also black and has a red interior. The bags that come with the suitcase are fine - I felt they were a bit cheap looking. My recommendation would be to enhance the "funkiness" of these bags; make them stand out. They just seem a bit blah, albeit functional. I prefer the ones that come with the Samsara. Overall a very good first impression. In the end I was between the Samsara and the Arlo Skye. I went with Arlo Skye, as I wanted a check in version as well, and Samsara does not have one, so it came out of consideration. Though in my book, it is Arlo Skye's main competitor. I am quite satisfied with my purchase, and I have ordered a black polycarbonate check-in version as well - sadly no Audi edition on this one. Will update this in a few weeks after the next trip. Cheers!

Beautiful case exterior and high quality interior, many considered features and excellent craftsmanship. Rolls super smooth, handle works great for push and pull (two levels). Charging my phone on the go is a really nice added benefit. The A-S aluminum carry-on elevates my traveling experience. Stoked!
